When placing a racing bet with PointsBet, you can choose between Fixed Odds and Tote Odds. The main difference is how your payout is calculated.
Fixed Odds
Fixed Odds are locked in when you place your bet, meaning they won't change even if the odds move before the race. However, deductions may apply if a runner is scratched.
Example: A $10 Win bet at $5.00 Fixed Odds returns $50 if your selection wins (assuming no deductions).
Tote Odds
Tote Odds can change up until the final dividend is declared after the race. The odds displayed when placing your bet are indicative only, meaning your final payout could be higher or lower.
Example: A $10 Win bet showing $5.00 Tote Odds may return $42 if the final declared dividend is $4.20.
How to choose: Simply select FIXED or TOTE above the runners when placing your bet. Please note that Fixed Odds may not be available for every race or market.
