TABLE OF CONTENTS
1. GENERAL SPORTS RULES
- Settlement of our sports betting Markets are governed by the following conditions, save where the rules relating to a particular sport or market provide otherwise. Where there is a conflict between the following conditions and a particular individual sports rule, the individual sports rule prevails. As stated in rule 5.12 the market information, found by clicking the I symbol next to the market name on the PointsBet website and app, can vary the content of these rules.
1.1 EVENT NOT TAKING PLACE OR ON WHICH THERE IS NO PLAY FOLLOWING PLACING OF BET
- Any Bet, open or closed, which is: on an event which does not take place; or on an event which has begun but in which there is no further activity after the Bet is placed, shall be void.
1.2 ABANDONMENT
- In the case of a match starting but not able to be completed/is abandoned, all bets will be void, unless the result of the bet has been unequivocally determined. This can be varied by specific rules contained in section 6.
- Subject to any specific sports rule to the contrary, If an event is postponed and rescheduled to occur within 48 hours of the original start time, all bets will stand. If it is rescheduled for more than 48 hours later, all bets are void.
- Where an event which is scheduled to be completed over a period of two or more days is not completed within three months of the day on which it was scheduled to be completed, all Bets on that event shall be void. All Bets placed after the last completed action in the event will be void.
- For the avoidance of doubt, where an event is completed on the day scheduled for completion, but later than scheduled, that does not affect the settlement of any Bet on that event.
- Any Bet, shall be void where:
i. the Bet is placed on a participant who takes no part in the subject event; or ii. the Bet is placed on a participant who takes no further part in the subject event after the Bet is placed; unless otherwise stated.
- Any Bet placed when the price is based on an inaccurate score 'so far' may be re-rated so that it operates as a Bet on the future. This means that, for instance, where a Market is made in Total Goals for an AFL Match –on Over 24, under 22 based on no goals at that stage, and where there has in fact been one goal, any bet at that price is adjusted so it becomes a bet at Over 25, under 23. This rerating will always reflect the real impact of amending an inaccurate score 'so far'. The above provision is subject to our overriding discretion to void any Bet made based on incorrect information.
- All Bets should be Bets on future events whose outcome is yet to be determined. If for whatever reason a Bet is placed on an event whose outcome is capable of being known at the time at which the Bet is being placed, the Bet can be voided at our absolute discretion (whether the outcome is in fact known to the client or not).
- We also reserve the absolute right to void any Bet placed on a Market on an event after that event has begun, unless we are quoting prices on that Market in-play, or the Bet is placed during an interval in which the prices have been updated.
- The settlement of the markets for each match is based on the results provided by the governing body except where specific rules state the contrary.
- Where in our reasonable judgement no official result is available, the result will be:
- determined by an independent authority whose verdict shall be final for all purposes, or
- otherwise determined in accordance with our reasonable opinion, such opinion to be formed by reference to all available evidence.
- Bets will provisionally be settled by reference to all available evidence, but if the result which is determined as set out above differs from the result used for provisional settlement, settlement may be retrospectively adjusted so as to reflect the result so determined.
- Rules on Bets on an individual event involving injury time and extra time vary for individual sports. For specific rules, please refer to Section 6.0 – Individual Sports Rules.
- Where betting takes place in a particular unit of time about the duration of an event or the length of time until an occurrence in that event, all such Bets will be settled as if the occurrence occurred at the end of the unit of time in which it occurred. So if there was betting on the duration of a Boxing fight in minutes, and the fight ended after one minute and seven seconds, the make-up would be two minutes.
- If an event occurs after scheduled time has elapsed, it will be treated as having occurred at the end of the scheduled period. So if a first half goal were scored once the 45th minute of the game had started, the make-up would be 45 minutes even if the goal was scored in injury time.
- The blowing of the whistle immediately following the ball crossing the line in Football, or being touched down in Rugby or American Football, will be deemed to be the time of the occurrence of the event, notwithstanding any subsequent referral of the decision by the referee to a third party for confirmation or adjudication, as long as the event is confirmed.
- Markets may be made (i) in Sports which we do not regularly cover and (ii) may also be offered as 'Specials' on individual Sports events on which we would offer our usual range of Markets in the normal course of business.
- In respect of all of the above, situations inevitably will arise from time to time which have not been specifically addressed herein. Such Markets will be settled in accordance with the conditions published in the market information which found in the market information accessed by clicking the "I" symbol next to the market name on the PointsBet website and app.
- In the event of an inconsistency between the market information and any relevant conditions contained within the Rules, the Rules shall prevail (although we would encourage you to inform us if you have reason to believe there is any inconsistency between any Special Market and these Rules). In the absence of relevant conditions within Special Market Rules, such Markets and situations will be settled on a basis which conforms as closely as is reasonable to these conditions, and by reference to similar Markets in regularly covered Sports. Our decision as to where parallels may most fairly be drawn shall be final.
- Certain Markets involve stipulations which must be met if the Market is to stand, e.g. that a batsman whose runs in a test series are being traded must play two tests. Where the stipulation or stipulations is/are not met, any Bet on that Market shall be void. These stipulations will be found in the market information accessed by clicking the "I" symbol next to the market name on the PointsBet website and app.
- The client must make themself aware of all conditions, rules and stipulations affecting any Market in which they wish to bet. Our staff will be pleased to answer any enquiry put to them, and the client will be deemed to know of any condition, rule or stipulation which would have been revealed by such enquiry.
- All information is supplied in good faith, and we shall have no liability whatsoever for any error or inaccuracy in information so supplied.
- The above conditions, and the Sports- specific rules which are set out below, may from time to time be displaced by rules and stipulations applied to particular Markets or types of Markets. Where this is the case we will detail such variation in the General Sports Rules, Individual Sports Rule or Special Market Rules.
- Where a Bet is offered about the performance of participants in an event, and one or more of the participants are disqualified, for the purposes of settlement of the Bet the disqualified participant will be considered to have progressed further in the event than all those eliminated from the event prior to his or her disqualification and will be deemed to have finished last of those still competing in the event. For the avoidance of doubt, disqualification will be considered to have taken place at the time when the incident occurred which caused disqualification and not at the time of the participant's removal from the event.
- A Dead Heat occurs when two or more selections are placed in the same position after the final results have been given from a specific event. In the event of a Draw, where such an option was not offered for betting purposes, the Return is calculated by dividing the Return (which would be payable if the Winning Selection were not involved in a dead heat, tie or draw) by the number of Selections involved in the dead heat, tie or draw, unless otherwise stated.
- Unless otherwise stated, in a two-way market that involves a flat line or total, if the line or total lands exactly on the specified number, the bet will be a "push". In the event of a push the bet will be void and the stake will be returned. For example, if the line is Carolina Panthers -3 versus the Tampa Buccaneers, and the Panthers win 20-17, the bet will be refunded because the Panthers won by exactly 3 points. For the avoidance of doubt this does not apply to Markets with more than two selections.
- If the name of a selection is misspelled, all bets will stand if it is obvious, reasonably practicable or within reason to assume that the misspelled player name refers to the correct player, e.g., anglicisation of non-English names.
- In many cases, markets will be still be resulted if an event is called off where the result is unequivocally determined. A result is unequivocally determined when:
- The market has already had its result decided; or if the event were completed in its entirety, the outcome of the relevant bet would have been guaranteed. For example, If a customer places a bet on Over 18.5 Total Match games in a tennis Match and a retirement occurs with the score line 7-6 5-0, this bet will be deemed a Winner as should the match have reached its natural conclusion, it was guaranteed to reach at least 19 total match games.
For the avoidance of doubt, where it is possible for the market to have a negative result, for example Player Rushing Yards in an NFL match, the market cannot be unequivocally determined.
1.3 POSTPONEMENT
1.4 PARTICIPATION
-
Any Bet, shall be void where:
i. the Bet is placed on a participant who takes no part in the subject event; or
ii. the Bet is placed on a participant who takes no further part in the subject event after the Bet is placed;
unless otherwise stated.
1.5 BETS ARE PLACED ON FUTURE EVENTS

- Bets will provisionally be settled by reference to all available evidence, but if the result which is determined as set out above differs from the result used for provisional settlement, settlement may be retrospectively adjusted so as to reflect the result so determined.
1.7 PERIODS OF TIME
- Rules on Bets on an individual event involving injury time and extra time vary for individual sports.
1.8 NON-MAINSTREAM MARKETS; UNUSUAL SITUATIONS & SPECIAL MARKETS

In the absence of relevant conditions within Special Market Rules, such Markets and situations will be settled on a basis which conforms as closely as is reasonable to these conditions, and by reference to similar Markets in regularly covered Sports. Our decision as to where parallels may most fairly be drawn shall be final.
1.9 MARKETS INVOLVING STIPULATIONS
- Certain Markets involve stipulations which must be met if the Market is to stand, e.g. that a batsman whose runs in a test series are being traded must play two tests. 1.13 DISQUALIFICATION
1.14 DEAD HEAT RULE
- A Dead Heat occurs when two or more selections are placed in the same position after the final results have been given from a specific event. In the event of a Draw, where such an option was not offered for betting purposes, the Return is calculated by dividing the Return (which would be payable if the Winning Selection were not involved in a dead heat, tie or draw) by the number of Selections involved in the dead heat, tie or draw.
1.15 PUSH RULE

The starting side is considered set once the first ball of the match is bowled.
- Player Performance Markets – 1 run = 1 point, 1 wicket = 20 points, 1 catch = 10 points and 1 stumping = 25 points, where points keep accumulating in the case of multiples of these events occurring. Run outs do not count toward the player performance market. The market is settled if a player is in the starting 11, irrespective of if they bat or bowl. Bets void if the relevant player is not in the starting 11, even if activated as a concussion replacement or 'impact player' substitute.
- Method of dismissal bets are void if a batsman finishes the innings not out. "Other" refers to any of the ten methods of dismissal that are not present as one of the other outcomes in the market. If the market has reference to a specific fielder catching the ball, such as caught and bowled or caught behind (by the wicketkeeper), the Caught method of dismissal excludes these fielders for the purposes of the market.
- First Player Dismissed – Both players must open the batting for bets to stand.
- Batsman retirement and not outs – A batsman retirement (including concussion substitute) does not count as a wicket. All markets that relate to a dismissal, except "next man out", carry over to the next partnership. Should a batsman remain not out or retire hurt at the end of an innings, the market is settled with what the batsman has accumulated up to that point. Method of dismissal bets for a specific player is void if a player is retired hurt or remains not out.

- If a market does not specify whether it is for the first innings, second innings or the match in the name or the event information, it relates to the first innings of the match, such as Team Top Bowler or Team Top Batsman market, unless the first innings in question has already conclude, and it refers to the second innings. Player Performance markets for Test Matches refer to the test match in its entirety.
- A third innings must have commenced for all markets, excluding markets relating to the match result, to stand, unless the result of the bet has been unequivocally determined.
LIMITED OVERS MATCHES
- 'Reduction' and other similar terms refers to the reduction of overs/playing time in a match or innings due to external factors (e.g. weather, power outage, natural disaster, etc). A reduction does not include an innings ending due to declarations, getting bowled out or reaching the target score. A reduction of overs may cause a market/bet to be void unless the result of the bet has been unequivocally determined prior to the reduction. Different markets have different rules regarding the required minimum number of reduced overs for bets to be void. The number of required overs reduced in either innings for listed markets to be void, unless the result of the bet has been unequivocally determined prior to the required reduction of overs:
- Any reduction of overs:
- Total Match/Team Runs/Fours/Sixes/Boundaries related markets

If a reduction of overs impacts a market that is not listed above, we reserve the right to void markets where appropriate within reason.
- If a Super Over, Bowl-Off of any official tiebreaker method is used in the match to give an official victory to either team in the match, the match result will be settled on the victor of this tiebreaker method. The runs and wickets in these super overs are not included in the settlement of any market and this tiebreaker method is used for the match result only. If there is no tiebreaker method used, and the match is officially declared tied, the match result will be settled as a dead heat. If the match is otherwise abandoned without a winner, the match is void.
-
Match Line (Spread Betting): If the winning team is batting second and wins by X wickets, irrespective of balls remaining, the market is settled in 10 multiplied by the number of wickets won by. If the team batting first wins, the market is settled by the amount of runs they won by.
If the Duckworth-Lewis or similar method is used for calculating the victor, the market will be settled as such: if a team successfully chases down a revised total, or an innings reaches its natural conclusion through an exhaustion of the revised overs or the team being bowled out, the market will be settled on the margin of victory by runs or wickets as per the above rules. However, if the minimum overs for each innings has been reached and the final innings has not reached its natural conclusion, the market will be settled according to the second innings score against the official "par" score, as it applies to the match result. For example, if the second innings team is chasing 250 and they are 5/199 after 40 overs when rain ends the game, they might be 18 runs ahead of the par score at the time and the match line will be settled at 18. If the result the match is a tie or decided by a super over or any other official tie breaker, the match line will be settled at zero.
- 6/X Overs Line (Spread Betting): Both teams must play the scheduled number of overs for the bet to stand. Long Term Markets, Futures and Outrights.
CRICKET FUTURES
- Unless otherwise stated, bets on player statistics include statistics accrued in finals matches. Unless otherwise stipulated in the information for the market, the market is an all-in market. If no minimum number of games is stipulated each player must play in at least 50% of the scheduled games for bets to stand.
- For Series correct score markets, should a limited-overs game have no result, the outcomes that were still possible should that game have a result will be settled as a dead heat, and all other outcomes would be settled as losses. For example, in a three-match series, if the score is 1-1 with one no result, each team winning 2-1 will be settled as a dead heat with the 3-0 results settled as losses. For Test Series, Tied Matches are counted as a draw in this market.

SOCCER HANDICAPS
- For deciding results on fixed price handicap markets, a number of goals (or half goals) is added to, or subtracted from, your selection. The handicap values assigned to the handicap draw option will always apply to the favourite team that has the negative handicap.
- The handicap is applied to the result of the relevant period and the team with the most goals after the handicap has been applied will be the winner. Handicap markets are settled on the score after normal time plus any additional injury time added. Extra time, golden goal and penalty shootouts are not included.
Example: Team A -2, Handicap Draw -2, Team B +2 If Team A wins by exactly 3 or more goals, Team A -2 is the winning selection. If Team A wins by exactly 2 goals, Handicap Draw is the winning selection as after the handicap is applied the match has ended in a draw. If Team A wins by exactly 1 goal, the match is drawn, or Team B win the match by any margin Team B +2 is the winning selection.
- Whole ball Asian handicap (e.g., Team A -0, Team A -1.0, Team A -2.0.) The handicap is applied to the final result of the match and the team with the most goals after the handicap has been applied will be the winner. If the number of goals for each team are level after the handicap has been applied, it will result in a push with the stake being returned.
- Half ball Asian handicaps (e.g. Team A -0.5, Team A -1.5, Team A -2.5) The handicap is applied to the final result of the match and the team with the most goals after the handicap has been applied will be the winner.
Example: Team A -1.5, Team B +1.5 If Team A win by two or more goals all bets on Team A will be winners and bets on Team B will be losers. If Team A win by exactly one goal, the match ends in a draw or Team B win the match all bets on Team B will be winners and bets on Team A will be losers.
- Split ball Asian handicaps (e.g., Team A -0 & -0.5, Team A -0.5 & -1.0, Team A -1.0 & -1.5)
A split ball handicap is where the level of favouritism is between a half ball and a whole ball. In this case, your stake is being split equally between the whole ball and half ball handicaps.
Example: Team A -1.0 & -1.5, Team B +1.0 & +1.5
If you place a $100 bet on Team A -1.0 & -1.5 your bet is split into two $50 bets. The first bet is on the Whole Ball Handicap (Team A -1.0) and the second bet is on the Half Ball Handicap (Team A -1.5)
If Team A win by two or more goals all bets on Team A will be winners and bets on Team B will be losers.
If Team A Win by exactly one goal the stake on Team A -1.0 will be refunded and the stake on Team A -1.5 will be a loser. The stake on Team B +1.0 will be refunded and the stake on Team B +1.5 will be a winner.
If the match ends in a draw or Team B win the match all bets on Team B will be winners and bets on Team A will be losers. If an official result cannot be found, the sources used to determine the result can be found under Resulting Order below.
SOCCER PLAYER STAT MARKETS
The following markets will be settled using OPTA data. If the selected player does not start, bets will be void.
- Player Assists - The final touch (pass, pass-cum-shot or any other touch) leading to the recipient of the ball scoring a goal. If the final touch (as defined in bold) is deflected by an opposition player, the initiator is only given a goal assist if the receiving player was likely to receive the ball without the deflection having taken place. Own goals, directly taken free kicks, direct corner goals and penalties do not get an assist awarded.
- Pass - Any intentionally played ball from one player to another. Passes include open play passes, goal kicks, corners and free kicks played as pass – but exclude crosses, keeper throws and throw-ins.
- Hit Woodwork - Hit woodwork is given in situations where the ball hits the frame of the goal, except goals that hit the frame before going into the net. Any shot that hits the frame multiple times (e.g. bar and left post) only count as hitting the woodwork once. Hit woodwork is always collected for the attacking team (and the player, who performed the last action), even when the ball hits the frame coming from a defensive back pass.
- Tackle - A tackle is defined as where a player connects with the ball in a ground challenge where he successfully takes the ball away from the player in possession. The tackled player must clearly be in possession of the ball before the tackle is made. It is not a tackle, when a player cuts out a pass (by any means).
- Offside - Awarded to the player deemed to be in an offside position where a free kick is awarded. If two or more players are in an offside position when the pass is played, the player considered to be most active and trying to play the ball is given offside.
- Location for Goal/Shots - The position of the ball, when the shot is taken (shot origin). • Inside or outside the 6-yard box • Inside or outside the 18-yard box. Any event happening on a line, will be considered inside that area. For example, a shot on the 18-yard line will count as being inside the box
-
Shot - A shot is defined as any intentional goal attempt that:
- Goes into the net.
- Goes over or wide of the goal without making contact with another player.
- Would have gone into the net but for being saved by the goalkeeper or stopped by an opposing player.
- Is heading towards goal and is blocked by a defender.
- Would have gone over or wide of the goal but for being stopped by a goalkeeper’s save or by an outfield player.
- Hits the frame of the goal.
-
Shot on Target - A shot on target is defined as any goal attempt that:
- Goes into the net regardless of intent.
- Is a clear attempt to score that would have gone into the net but for being saved by the goalkeeper or is stopped by a player who is the last-man with the goalkeeper having no chance of preventing the goal (last line block).
Shots directly hitting the frame of the goal are not counted as shots on target unless the ball goes in and is awarded as a goal. Shots blocked by another player, who is not the last man, are not counted as shots on target.

- In the event of a change of venue, all bets will stand.
2.27 TENNIS
- All tennis bets will be settled in accordance with the official result provided by the official website for the relevant tournament or governing body, unless there is significant evidence that the official result is incorrect, in which case alternative sources reasonably determined by PointsBet will be used. In the absence of an official result, alternative sources reasonably determined by PointsBet will be also used.
- A tennis match is deemed to have started with the first serve of the match.
- A tennis match is deemed completed when it reaches a natural conclusion, i.e. the statutory number of sets is completed, or a player retires/withdraws or is disqualified after the match has started. For the avoidance of doubt, the statutory number of sets refers to the minimum number of sets a player must win to win a match, e.g. a player must win two completed sets in a best of 3 sets match.

All other markets will be voided unless the result has been unequivocally determined.
- In the event of a loss of a point or game being issued by the umpire or tournament official to a player for violating a rule or code of conduct, the forfeited point or game will still count as a point or game respectively for settlement purposes. The relevant Point Winner will be settled in favor of the player that is awarded the point or game. The relevant Game Winner will be settled in favor of the player that is awarded the game, however other markets specific to the relevant game, such as Game Total Points or Game Correct Score, will be voided unless the result has been unequivocally determined.
- If the event of a change in the statutory number of sets or games per set, all bets, excluding match result, that PointsBet reasonably deems to be directly affected by the change will be void unless unequivocally determined prior to the change.
- A tiebreak counts as one game for settlement purposes but does not count as a service game.
- If the final set is a ‘champions tiebreak’, also known as a ‘match tiebreak’/‘super tiebreak’/’extended tiebreak’, i.e. the final set solely consists of a tiebreak in which the players play points until the winner is determined as the first player/team which reaches a predetermined number of points and lead by a predetermined margin, typically ten points and a margin of two, then this ‘champions tiebreak’ will count as both one set and one game for settlement purposes but it will not count as a tiebreak for tiebreak specific markets. If the format of final set was changed from a regular set to a champions tiebreak at any time, then all bets, apart from the match winner and any bet which the result has been unequivocally determined prior to the final set, will be voided.
- For the avoidance of doubt, for total/over/under markets, a result is not unequivocally determined unless the total/line value has been reached/crossed. Handicap/spread/line markets are void unless the relevant period is completed, e.g. the match must be completed for match handicaps/spreads/lines to stand and the 1st set must be completed for 1st set game handicaps/spreads/lines to stand.
TENNIS FUTURES

- Lucky loser is not considered a qualifier for settlement purposes.
- Protected ranking is not considered a wild card for settlement purposes.
- A player only has one nationality for settlement purposes, and it is as displayed by the relevant governing body.
- If an outcome is unequivocally determined as a direct result of a player/team withdrawing or being disqualified between matches, then bets placed after the relevant player’s previous match had completed will be voided. E.g. A bet on player/team to reach the final will be voided if their would-be semi-final opponent withdraws and the bet was placed after their quarter-final match completed.
- Stage of Elimination: If the relevant player/team withdraws or is disqualified in between matches then the stage of what would have been their next match will be settled as a winner. However, bets placed after their previous match had completed will be voided.

3.7 DEDUCTIONS
- In the event of a scratching, all Fixed Odds bets placed on the Final Field will be subject to deduction. The deduction rate will be applied based on the fixed odds of the scratched selection at the time the selection has been removed from the market. The deduction will be based on face value of the entire ticket.
For example: If you have $5 to win on a 6.00 winner – and total win Deductions are 16c in the dollar: This means you will receive 84c in every dollar of the Face Value of the ticket.
Face Value: $5 x 6.0 = $30.
Reduced Face Value: $30 x .84c = $25.20.
Less your $5 outlay leaves a win profit of $20.20
- In the event multiple runners are scratched from an individual race a combined deduction of multiple runners maybe applied depending on the time of the bet and the time of the individual Deductions.

3.8 OFFICIAL RESULTS/PRICING
- All bets will be settled on the official result declared by the racecourse (Official Result).
- Where a result is amended after the Official Result (for example following a successful appeal) the amendment will be ignored for the purposes of Settlement (Settlement is the final payout once an event is finalised). If a winner is disqualified after the Official Result, the disqualification will not affect Settlement. However, if a Horse is disqualified for any reason before the official result is announced, all bets on that horse will be deemed losing bets.
- Where these Rules state that a dividend is to be paid as declared by a particular Tote, and that Tote fails to declare a dividend within ten minutes of the other Australian Totes declaring a dividend, PointsBet may pay the dividend which is the higher of the dividends that were declared by the other Australian Tote(s). In the event a subsequent Tote dividend is declared which was previously excluded due to the above 10minute rule, that dividend will be reviewed and re-settled where the settlement outcome would differ to the previously declared 10minute settlement.
