Total Bases refers to the total number of bases a player earns through their hits in a game. The scoring is as follows:
- Single: 1 base
- Double: 2 bases
- Triple: 3 bases
- Home Run: 4 bases
This means walks, hit-by-pitches, stolen bases, and errors do not count towards total bases.
In the below example from the Rockies vs Nationals game, a client has placed a bet on CJ Abrams to have Over 1.5 hits.
The below picture includes a screenshot of the official statistics from MLB.com:
- AB: At Bat
- R: Run
- H: Hit
- RBI: Runs Batted In
- BB: Walk
- K: Strike
- AVG: Average
- OPS: On-base Plus Slugging
This example shows that Abrams scored a run but has 0 hits. He has reached first base via a walk (BB) and then advanced to second, third and home base to score a run.
