What is the Dead Heat Rule and when does it apply?
A Dead Heat occurs when two or more selections are placed in the same position after the final results have been given from a specific event.
In the event of a Dead Heat or Draw, where such an option was not offered for betting purposes, the ticket will be paid out at face value divided by the number of Dead Heating winners of the event.
Application of Dead Heat Rule
For Example - A $100 bet on Number 3 La Falaise to win the Fillies Classic (1600m) at Moonee Valley at the fixed $7.50. Fascino and La Falaise dead-heat for first. All Win bets on Fascino and La Falaise will be paid at half the face value of the bet.
Your $100 bet will be paid following the below calculations:
100 x 7.50 x 0.5 or (100 x 7.50) / 2 = $375 return
